Massa
Morocco
Found 1997
Tkw: >120kg
Olivine-bronzite chondrite H6
A major new find, which hasn't been taken into the "Meteoritical
Bulletin" yet - small wonder, for there is havoc with new find data since
the break out of the North African meteorite rush. Massa has a light gray
matrix, different chondrules, grayish black fusion crust and, just like El
Hammami, contains dense metal veining. All in all it looks very fresh and
pretty. 2$/g.

Tkw: 5kg
Olivine-bronzite chondrite H5
Pretty, small fragments, often pebble halves, with plenty of fresh fusion
crust. Seems like the real find mass is 50kg rather than the 5kg mentioned
everywhere.
Therefore just 5$/g.

Toby the Cat, to examine the offer
The
Tagounite-L3 finds particular favor with the expert
Content.
Has to be guarded.
I
will be offering these stones as wholes for a few more weeks to come, in case
someone takes to them; before I will slaughter and slice them up. Please don't
let the relative proportions fool you - Tobi is a Main-Coon, the largest
domestic cats on earth.
I
will be pleased to take your reservations for the slices from now on (please
indicate the approximate gram figures).
These
are, from back to front:
El
Hammami
(cf.Chondrite)
1.8kg,
fragment with crust, heavy weathering on the outside:
By the piece: 0.80$/g;
In slices, depending on freshness, 0.80-0.90$/g.
Tagounite
L3
11.54kg,
no crust, but with a few nice remaglypts preserved:
By the piece: 8$/g;
In slices 9$/g.
Zag
1.46kg,
individual with plenty of crust, some weathering traces.
Zag
is a fabulous meteorite! Fell in Morocco on August 4th or 5th 1998, Tkw: 175kg,
classified as H3-6 regolith breccia, S3. Contains both lighter H6 material and
darker H3 sections. Zag caused quite a stir - it even found its way into the
newspapers, for in its H3 regions liquid extraterrestrial water was discovered!
- minute droplets, included in colourful halite crystals (rock salt). Such a
thing had been seen just once, slightly before, in Monahans (1998). Furthermore,
the brecciation is said to be spectacular.
According
to my own, personal opinion, Zag is drastically underpriced, given its unique
characteristics (Monahans for example costs 10$ and more). I don't know how the
value is going to evolve in future, this will depend upon further research, and
there is also still a lot of material on the market, so that I don't want to
rush anyone into buying; but I do think that one can hardly get a more
interesting meteorite at such a low price. So if you want to buy, buy Zag!
(Thank God you can still find it almost everyway.)
Price
by the piece: 2.50$/g;
In slices, depending on how interesting they are - as one can never know
before!: 2.50-3$/g
